This course will examine the way in which the media both influences and is influenced by a society's ideological beliefs. Topics examined in the course will include the construction of social morality from both an historical and multicultural perspective, the increasingly monopolistic nature of media and its repercussions for society, and the construction of the need for both the classification and censorship of particular forms of entertainment media, including music, films, and video games.
