This course is a survey of European visual arts (and some from the United States) from the post revolutionary era to the 1900 World's Fair. Emphasis is placed on stylistic developments (Romanticism, Realism, Academicism, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism) within historical and cultural contexts. Painting, sculpture, photography, and architecture will be included in this survey.
