The INSPIRE UNIV000 is designed to heighten the overall social consciousness and educational experience our Scholars (those awarded the Inspire Scholarship) receive by engaging them in ongoing community service and providing leadership development opportunities in an effort to help them develop the skill sets and the knowledge-based necessary to make their mark on the world meaningful and lasting. To that end, the components of the ISP are as follows:INSPIRE UNIV000 will provide an opportunity for Inspire Scholars to experience the following:- Monitoring by the Office of Student Leadership and Activities (OSLA) to ensure that the required ten (10) hours of community service by the end of each semester for a total of 20 hours of community service for the academic year (not including the summer) are earned. - A Blackboard connection with the Office of student Leadership and Activities (OSLA) in which information regarding: On and off campus community service opportunities that will include representing the University as "Ambassadors" during recruitment activities such as Delaware Hornet Days, Open Houses, Holiday Recruit-back, Communities and Schools, Inc. visits, and etc. College survival tips such as time management, study skills, learning styles, financial education, current philosophies in leadership development, opportunities for personal growth, and self-empowerment will be communicated to them, Motivation to pursue vigorously the precepts of academic excellence and achievement. (Required to maintain GPA of 2.75 or higher by the end of each academic school year, not including the summer), Opportunities to maintain a presence on campus as members of a registered student organization known as "Inspire Scholars" with the Office of Student Leadership and Activities (OSLA), and An overview of DSU tradition, culture, core values, and etc.
