This course is the introductory course on writing and delivering effective lessons, as well as learning strategies for involving families in the education of their middle school students. Students will write and deliver four lessons in a real classroom environment. They will be provided intensive preparation, with an emphasis on writing learning outcomes in the KUD's (know, understand and do). This course will also provide students with an introduction to managing a middle level classroom. Appropriate classroom management techniques will be taught and students will model them in the classroom setting. In addition, students will investigate and learn strategies for increasing family involvement in middle schools. DSU students culminating activity will be completion of a project on family involvement in the middle school.
