A comparative study of animal function. Evidence from different groups of animals, particularly the vertebrates, to identify the general principles of physiological mechanisms operating at the cellular, tissue, organ, and organismal levels. Laboratory studies will complement lecture material and will stress experimental design, data analysis, and the understanding of critical research in physiology. Prerequisite: BIOL 1441, 1442. BIOL 3301 recommended.
