This course is a two, consecutive-semester, eight credit course, designed as the highest-level screenwriting workshop. This course has been created to facilitate to produce a capstone feature screenplay (or speculative television series screenplay and an original television pilot script) which will then be thoroughly revised, rewritten and polished during the second semester to create a viable, professional-level screenplay. This course will also have a one-hour lab where students assemble and present their writing portfolio before the screenwriting faculty for review and approval. Prerequisites: CINE 405. Course Objectives Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: (1) Heighten the ability to formulate effective cinematic stories. (2) Be able to pitch professional-level, commercially viable feature/TV ideas. (3) Prepare a professional-level treatment/synopsis for a feature film. (4) Prepare a detailed outline for the feature film. (5) Write a feature film script (95-125 pages). (6) Revise, rewrite and polish a feature film script. (7) Creation and defense of a portfolio of professional level writing samples.
