This course is the first of a two-semester sequence for science and engineering majors. Topics covered include atomic and molecular structure, nomenclature, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, oxidation-reduction, thermo-chemistry, electronic structure of atoms, chemical bonding, gases, liquids and solids. Laboratory experiments are used to illustrate theory. Prerequisites: (Test score or MAT 152 or MAT 183 or higher) and (CHM 110 or MAT 193)
