This course highlights the fundamental techniques necessary for assuming the responsibilities of a surgical technologist. Preoperative and intraoperative patient care concepts with both non-sterile and sterile responsibilities are emphasized. Students are introduced to skill development related to instrumentation, equipment, patient transportation, surgical positioning, and preoperative patient preparation. This course is part of the College's competitive admissions programs and is therefore excluded from the tuition free Senior Citizen Tuition Policy. Prerequisites: BIO 100, BIO 121, BIO 125, (MAT 152 or higher), SGT 100, ENG 102 Corequisite: SGT 203
