Cross-listed with MATH 250Fulfills the statistics requirement for the Biology, Marine Biology andEnvironmental Science MajorsPrerequisites: MATH 136, BIO 104 and sophomore standing or consentof instructorThe course is a team-taught introductory course in statistics withapplications to biological problems. Students will learn statisticalconcepts and the technical details behind those concepts as well aswhen and how to apply particular procedures. This class is a mixof theoretical understanding of statistical principles and problemapplication using statistical software. Particular topics include thefollowing: Measures of the central tendency and of dispersion andvariability, hypothesis testing, Analysis of Variance and linear, multipleand polynomial regression.
