Rather, it looks at how a technologyemerges and may extend beyond its intended purposes. Today's collegestudent has been surrounded by technology since birth. Portablemusic devices have more storage capabilities than was conceivablefor desktop computers in the mid-90's. Technology is becoming moreand more ingrained into the fabric of our daily lives. This course looksat the impact of technology beyond everyday devices. How did thishappen and what does it mean for you as an active participant withina global society? Beyond computers themselves, the course exploresother emerging technologies and the issues they raise, includingtechnological impact on culture, ethics, privacy, and security in aglobal environment.
