An approved Global and Cultural Perspectives course. Survey of the classical, folk, popular, and indigenous music from various cultures around the world, including those in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Emphasizes tools to appreciate music from within its cultural context, including basic musical terminology and improved listening skills. Assignments include listening, reading, and writing exercises, a final paper/project, and written examinations. No previous musical experience is required. SP
