Introduction to the theories, fields, and applications of biotechnology, including the structure and function of genes and their manipulation to improve plant and animal productivity and human health. Individual case studies are examined, including social and ethical issues surrounding biotechnology-based research and development. Not open to Genetics majors. Preq: BIOL 1200; and one of BIOL 1210 or BIOL 1220 or BIOL 1230 or BIOL 1240; and General Education Natural Science requirement.
