Investigates the molecular basis of microbial lives. Topics include essential genes involved in DNA, RNA and protein metabolism; mutations and genome evolution; global gene regulation; and genetic analysis, using forward and reverse genetics. Includes Honors sections. Preq: MICR 3050 with a grade of C or higher; and MICR 4120; and BCHM 3010 or BCHM 3050; and GEN 3000 or GEN 3020. Non-Microbiology majors are eligible to enroll without credit for MICR 4120 but must request a registration override from the instructor.
