A survey of writings by African American writers. The literary types studied may vary. ENGL U291/ENGL U391 will be offered concurrently. The reading and writing assignments for students enrolled in ENGL U391 will be longer and the standard for grading will be more demanding. Students may not receive credit for both courses. Prerequisite: ENGL U101 and ENGL U102.
