Description:

This course is the third of three full-time clinical experiences within this curriculum. It spans 8 weeks/320 hours of clinical practice at an approved health care facility. The facility is chosen through collaboration between the student and ACCE, with the final appointment made by the ACCE. The clinical experience is supervised by an appointed clinical instructor (CI) at the facility. Contact is made by the ACCE with the student and CI at both the midterm and final points of the rotation. Additionally, the ACCE is readily available to the student and/or the CI on an as needed basis. This experience supports the application of skills presented throughout the didactic and laboratory portions of the curriculum. The experience will expose the student to the structure of the rehabilitation setting in which they are placed. Students will be provided opportunities to observe, discuss, apply and integrate various skills while under the direct supervision of their clinical instructor. Students are expected to demonstrate active learning behaviors to facilitate this. Evidence of critical thinking behaviors are expected to progress beyond those achieved in Clinical Education II. It is expected that at the end of this experience, the student will be capable of executing interventions outlined within a plan of care, demonstrating proficiency within skill areas that approaches entry-level.
