This allied requirement is designed to assist students intending formal application to the Nursing major to be informed in their decision for baccalaureate nursing and to meet selected criteria for approval to the major. This course, prerequisite to acceptance into the Nursing major, introduces nursing as a profession, an art, a science and a career. As a laboratory course, it provides supervision and guidance by nursing faculty for successful assessment of pre-professional skills essential for the pursuit of the Nursing Program. NOTE: Successful completion of this course does not assure the student of automatic acceptance into the Nursing major. See criteria for acceptance into the Nursing major. Registered nurse students (currently practicing) are exempt from taking N200. Licensed practical nurse students(currently practicing) may request to challenge N200. Other persons with appropriate nursing-related backgrounds will be given individual consideration upon written request to challenge N200. Non-nursing majors may take N200 with the approval of the Chairperson of the Nursing Program.
