This course builds on knowledge gained in SW 520 Foundations of Human Behavior, and focuses on theories that promote an understanding of social networks and communities. Ecosystems, social justice, and life course frameworks are used as a base to critically analyze these theories as they apply to the needs of communities at risk. The effects of the interaction of social, political, economic, and cultural contexts of communities on social work practice is a focus. Prerequisite: SW 520.
