This course offers students the opportunity to study how religion is represented in the genre of film. Working at the intersection of cultural studies and religious studies, we will examine how films use, modify, or allude to religious themes and values. Students will explore techniques that filmmakers employ to shape viewers' responses to religious subjects and will examine the methods involved in the analysis of film as related to religion and questions of faith.
