This course of study outlines the sequence of learning activities to help you develop competence in the subject area of mathematics and science in a young child's world. Your competence will be assessed as you complete the objective exam AVC1 and the performance assessment ACT1. This course of study represents four competency units. If you engage in all of the learning activities to develop your competence, this course of study may take up to eight weeks to complete. Depending on your educational background, work experience, and the time that you are able to dedicate to your studies, you may be able to complete this course of study in less than eight weeks. Consult with your mentor if you wish to accelerate your progress through this course of study. This course of study outlines the sequence of learning activities to help you develop competency while attending the first professional practice experience (PPE). Your competence will be assessed in three different ways: (1) an evaluation of your PPE participation by your clinical mentor based on a checklist of activities at the clinical site; (2) completion of three 3-level tasks submitted in TaskStream; and (3) completion of one 5-level task (the portfolio). This course of study is three competency units, and it includes your attendance at the professional practice for a total of 80 hours. Review this course of study in its entirety as you begin this term, as it will provide you with a complete look at the expectations of this professional practice experience.
