Isolate and detect RNA, DNA and protein; manipulate RNA and DNA; clone a gene of interest using polymerase chain reaction, and sequence DNA. Provides background for further work in cell biology, virology, biotechnology, disease diagnostics and microbiology. Lecture and laboratory combined four hours per week. Prerequisites: BIOL 1603, 1601, 1703, 1701, 2124.
