This dramturgy course counts toward the Dramaturgy elective & focuses on Renaissance stage character types including Don Juan the seducer, Marta the hypocrite, and Juana the vengeful woman-in-disguise, with emphasis on comedies of "Golden Age" Spain, as well as plays by writers such as Moliere, George Bernard Sharw, Bertolt Brecht, Sam Shepard, Tony Kushner, Anna Deavere Smith, and Suzan-Lori Parks among others. We will read 12-15 plays and undertake other varieties of dramaturgy projects.
