Scenic Art I is a course for those beginning painting for the Theatre. Students will be made familiar with the tools and methods employed by the Scenic Artist in a professional scenic studio. Students will learn color mixing and terminology, the specifics involved in the execution of line work, how to build a composition using a figure/ground relationship, the painting techniques for establishing shape through the use of highlight and shadow, the reproduction of images by following a series of 7 steps, and the practical employment of these techniques on actual scenic units in production.
