Spanish Phonetics is designed to improve students' perception and production of Spanish speech-sounds while providing them with foundations needed for future studies of linguistics. It covers topics in the system of human speech-sounds, the sound system of Spanish, the perception and production of Spanish sounds, and the dialectal variations of Spanish pronunciations. The application of theoretical and practical knowledge in the listening and speech-production practices will also be explored.
