Description:

In this course each student will conduct a research project that culminates in a written paper and oral presentation, leading students to integrate theory, knowledge, and data analysis. The substantive course material includes an overview of sociological theory and research on the causes and consequences of modern armed conflicts (i.e., interstate wars, civil wars, and internationalized civil wars). We will also discuss and use best practices for writing and presenting a final research paper. Each student will develop a mini-proposal that serves as the basis of a capstone project, and then will write and present the project.
