This is a comprehensive course about Comics and Graphic Novels. In this class, each participant will learn the basics of creating comic art, from single pages to mini-comics to multiple page stories. Drawing skills are not a requisite, as many alternative techniques of visual communication are explored. The student will also study the history of the Comics medium, from the earliest beginnings up and through current trends. This includes newspapers, comic books, undergrounds, alternatives, graphic novels, single panels, political and web comics. Participants will research and present reports on three comic artists from these various genres.
