The drama of today is a vital aspect of contemporary cultural production. Like certain kinds of fiction, drama and performance are in the forefront of contemporary cultural experimentation. This course will typically pick some aspect of modern and contemporary drama and performance from a wide range of possible sources and focus on expressive issues and traditions, aesthetic values, and the sorts of cultural work drama enacts.
