This course is a hands on workshop for the traditional building skills of millwork/woodwork. The course includes the philosophy of historic preservation and traditional practices for the repair and replicating of historic moldings and millwork. This course covers many aspects of millwork such as: use of hand planes, sharpening a plane iron,, and tuning a hand plane; replicating and producing moldings; coping and mitering of base and crown moldings; using historic wooden molding planes; using liquid wood and epoxies; producing cove moldings on the table saw; sharpening and burnishing a cabinet scraper; and other tricks of the trade.
