An overview of various failure theories including yielding, buckling, fracture and fatigue. Design of thin walled structures. Introduction to advanced composite materials. Prerequisites: "C" or better in Math 14 (or 8), 15 (or 21), 22, Physics 23 and Civ Eng 110.
