This course consists of four parts: 1) Structure, bonding, and nomenclature; 2) hydrocarbons (alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes), conjugated systems, ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy, sterochemistry, resonance, and molecular orbital theory; 3) substitution and elimination reactions, and 4) identification of organic compounds via infrared and NMR spectroscopy. Prerequisites: Chem 1, 2, 3; or Chem 5.
