Explores the role of the professional nurse as a leader and manager of patient care by exploring strategies, processes, and techniques of the nurse leader and manager as well as theories, principles, and application of leadership and management within the professional nursing role. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Distinguish the principles of high-quality therapeutic interactions in nursing care. 2. Integrate the utilization of personal cognition, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based practice. 3. Evaluate therapeutic communication skills, techniques and practices required to maintain relationships with members of the inter-professional team. 4. Assess behaviors used to facilitate culturally sensitive holistic nursing care while protecting and promoting human dignity and diversity 5. Critique legal and ethical standards of nursing practice to implement quality care. Prerequisites: Admission to the Utah Tech University Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, RN-BSN option.
