Covers punitive measures used in the criminal justice system, the behavioral influence of social control mechanisms, the ethics of policies of social control, and more. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Describe the various facets of social control. 2. Apply such knowledge to real-life experiences and occurrences. 3. Offer insightful critiques concerning the theory and practice of criminal justice mechanisms of control in both the past and present. 4. Improve written and verbal communication skills.
