For Biology majors, and other interested students. Examines "Cancer," a catch-all term for hundreds of diseases that share the common feature of cells that forgo the normal regulatory systems of control and proliferate within the body. Focuses on general principles of molecular nature and cell behavior common in the disease state. **COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLOs) At the successful conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Describe the molecular, cellular, and environmental mechanisms that lead to the development of cancer. 2. Describe how cancer metastasizes and leads to high rates of mortality. 3. Understand the treatment of cancer and what cellular pathways are targeted by various treatment methods. 4. Be able to research information regarding the development and treatment of cancer and present your findings to a general audience. Prerequisites: BIOL 3010 and BIOL 3030 (Grade C or higher). SU
