Introductory course in ecology (interactions of living organisms with the environment), evolution (adaptations of living organisms to the environment) and the environment of life on planet Earth. Important applied ecological topics such as agriculture and forestry, exploitation of populations, effects of disturbance and climate change, and conservation of biological diversity also are examined. The course covers significant content of the Academic Standards for Environment and Ecology and the Middle-Level Science Competencies as required by the Pa. Dept. of Education. 2 hrs. lec., 2 hrs. lab. No credit toward BIOL major.
