Course introduces the processes and components of energy generation and conversion systems including fuel cells, passive solar heating, fossil fuel and nuclear energy plants, cogeneration, and others Exploration of the conservation principle as applied to these systems including the comparison of fossil fuel and biofuel energy intensities, steady-state analysis of energy transfer in a solar heater, and power losses in simple circuits. Comparative economics analysis based upon operating costs and profiles, as well as capital investment considerations for various technologies.
