Emphasizing social and cultural factors, the course discusses leading theories on sources of prejudice and discrimination. Considers the changing place of minority groups in the stratification structure, cultural patterns of various minority groups, factors affecting the degree of acculturation and assimilation, social consequences of prejudice for dominant and minority groups, and theories and techniques relating to the decline of prejudice and discrimination.
