Discusses current challenges that face emerging markets: health and the HIV epidemic, education and poverty, the emergence of financial and other markets, inflation and the role of commodity prices, macroeconomic management and the implications for policy. Across all dimensions, considers the roles of private and social entrepreneurs, as well as the public sector.
