This course examines the forces at work in the American health care system which have resulted in the formation of managed care. It explores the alliances and conflicts among managed care organizations, service providers and consumers. The prevalent models of managed care are described and compared, as well as the applicability of the managed care concept to the various types of medical service. Prerequisite of HAD 10 is required.
