An examination of the various cultural, religious and political communities in the region of Israel- Palestine from the late Ottoman period to the present day. The course covers the relations between Israelis and Palestinians, the social and cultural development of Israeli and Palestinian societies, and the involvement of outside powers, and its situates these topics within a broader historical and comparative context. Prerequisites of HIS 2 or permission of instructor is required.
