A historical examination of the Third Reich and National Socialism from the early 1920s until the end of the Second World War. The course will investigate the ideological origins of National Socialism and its impact on politics, culture, and society in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. The course will use a variety of materials, including film, music, radio recordings, public policy documents, and memoirs, introducing students to National Socialism's multifaceted and often ambiguous character. Prerequisites of HIS 2 or permission of instructor is required.
