This course explores the historical "back story" of crucial issues facing the US and the larger world in the early 21st century, by tracing the narrative background of events from their origins to the present day, contrasting current issues with seemingly analogous earlier issues, and examining changing popular policy and scholarly perspectives on given issues over time. Topics will vary by instructor. Prerequisite of HIS 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or permission of instructor is required.
