This course studies the chemistry of the Earth and interactions of the solid Earth with the hydrosphere and atmosphere. Topics include the chemistry of soils and soil contamination, isotopic traces of environmental and climatic change, the geologic connection in the carbon cycle, natural geochemical hazards such as lead, arsenic, and radon, and geologic disposal of radioactive waste. Prerequisites of (GLY 1 or ERS 2) and CHM 3 or permission of instructor are required.
