This course surveys the major economics issues facing countries in the Middle East today: education, health, income distribution, poverty, labor migration, population growth, oil incomes, water supplies and military spending. The economic impact on the socio-political issues of the region will be discussed. Prerequisite of ECO 11 or permission of instructor is required.
