Restricted to sociology majors. Students participate in researchrelated activities with faculty members in the Department of Sociology. Activities may include collecting interview or survey data, analyzing statistics, synthesizing research literature, and coding qualitative data. Five to seven hours a week for one semester. May be repeated for credit but may only be taken once on the letter-grade basis. Prerequisite: Upper-division standing, Sociology 302 or the equivalent, nine semester hours of upper-division coursework in sociology or related fields, a University grade point average of at least 3.00, and consent of the faculty undergraduate adviser.
