Aspects of visual culture during the period when art history became an academic discipline in the West (nineteenth and twentieth centuries). The ways in which art has been studied as well as produced. The cultural significance of visual traditions. Three lecture hours or two lecture hours and one discussion hour a week for one semester. Prerequisite: A major in the Department of Art and Art History. ARH 119Q, 219Q, 319Q, 419Q, 519Q, 619Q, 719Q, 819Q, 919Q. Topics in Art History. This course is used to record credit the student earns while enrolled at another institution in a program administered by the University's Study Abroad Office. Credit is recorded as assigned by the study abroad adviser in the Department of Art and Art History. University credit is awarded for work in an exchange program; it may be counted as coursework taken in residence. Transfer credit is awarded for work in an affiliated studies program. May be repeated for credit when the topics vary.
