The course presents an overview of the metabolic transformations of fatty acids, complex lipids, amino acids, and the purine and pyrimidine nucleotides. The course provides an introduction: to regulatory mechanisms, including the molecular interactions of both small and large regulatory molecules; the molecular basis of genetics, including DNA and RNA metabolism; protein biosynthesis; the biochemical basis of recombinant DNA methodology. CHEM 405. Lecture, three hours. As needed.
