Prerequisites: CSC 242 Corequisite: CSC 345. This course provides a theoretical and practical introduction to major operating systems and their components. Topics covered included processes, concurrency and synchronization, CPU scheduling, deadlocks, memory management, file systems, mass storage, and I/O systems. In addition, the course provides an in-depth introduction to shell scripting as well as the use of a Linux operating system. Three hours of lecture in a computer lab setting.
