Introduction to elementary structures in the Japanese language. Emphasis on listening comprehension, pronunciation, basic vocabulary, and grammar structures necessary for developing oral proficiency skills. Classroom work is extended and enhanced by use of laboratory facilities for oral com-prehension and pronunciation exercises, vocabulary acquisition, grammar, and spelling exercises. Lab attendance required.
