Energy changes accompanying chemical and physical processes and their usefulness in predicting chemical change are thoroughly discussed. Quantum mechanics is introduced. Prerequisites: CHEM 112, 113, 132, 133, 220, 221, 230, and 231; MATH 264, 265; CHEM 312 is a prerequisite for CHEM 313.
