The study of the physical properties and structure of matter, along with the laws of chemical interaction and the theories upon which these laws are based. Energy changes accompanying chemical and physical processes and their usefulness in predicting chemical change are thoroughly discussed. Quantum mechanics is introduced. Prerequisites: CHEM 112, 113, 132, 133, 220, 221, 230, and 231; MATH 264, 265; CHEM 312 is a prerequisite for CHEM 313.
