Examines Jewish immigrant literature in America from the late nineteenth century to the 1980's. Traces the change of the Jewish immigrant community into an ethnic community by contrasting Yiddish and English literary texts written in America. Films about the Jewish immigrant experience in America will be shown and discussed as examples of American popular culture. All readings will be in English. Same as ENGL 363.
