Description:
-
Molecular-scale processes that control the fate of organic contaminants in natural environments and engineered treatment systems, including partitioning between environmental phases (water, air, organic, and biological phases), sorption onto solids (soils, sediments, aerosol particles), and transformation reactions (chemical photochemical, and biochemical). Emphason quantitative approaches for predicting contaminant fate using thermodynamic principles and molecular property descriptors. Prerequisite: CEE 443 or NRES 490.
